Discover Glen Elgin 10: Speyside Whisky
Glen Elgin Distillery, located in the tiny hamlet of Fogwatt, Moray, was founded in 1898 by William Simpson. It was the very last distillery to be built in Speyside during the late 19th century’s ‘Golden Age’ of Scotch whisky and is known for producing smooth yet bold, fruit-forward single malts, with hints of tangerine, light honey and vanilla.
Glen Elgin takes a carefully measured approach to whisky-making, employing long fermentation times and slow distillation. The distillate is sent through traditional worm tub condensers, which adds to its bold, robust character and complexity. Glen Elgin produces first class single malt whisky which helps to retain its cult status amongst whisky connoisseurs worldwide.
