Epic Drams is a new Independent Scotch Whisky Bottling Company, launched in February 2025, dedicated to bottling unique, exceptional Single Cask, Cask Strength whiskies from top-quality distilleries for fellow whisky enthusiasts to enjoy at an affordable price.
The suspense when sampling the first taste of a one-of-a-kind, single cask whisky to reveal the mystery of what unique combination of flavours and aromas that particular cask will produce is an experience Euan felt was too good not to repeat on a regular basis but also to share with others. However, with all good things, they come at a high price and often, single cask, cask strength whiskies were quite expensive.
So, inspired with a fascination for single casks, and a determination to provide more of these excellent, superior whiskies available to as many people as possible at affordable prices, Euan created Epic Drams.
Epic Drams exists to celebrate the authenticity and diversity found in single cask Scotch, offering whisky lovers a chance to experience each cask’s unique character and to savour the natural, untouched, unfiltered whisky flavours as if drawn straight from the cask.
Each release providing the unique, authentic, pure, whisky, exactly as it was created.
We believe that whisky, the ‘water of life’, is made to be appreciated, consumed and enjoyed. Not collected and placed on a shelf accumulating dust for 30 years!
There is often confusion when referring to a “Single Malt Whisky” or a “Single Cask Malt Whisky”. But they are significantly different.
A “Single Malt Whisky” is a whisky that has been produced from a “Single” Malt Whisky Distillery but can be the product of over a hundred casks of different ages, cask types and from several different warehouses. The typical Distillery “Single Malt Whisky” will also be bottled at 40% – 46% ABV.
A “Single Cask Whisky” is the product of a “Single” cask from a “Single” distillery and is typically bottled at cask strength.
As a well-known whisky retailer states on their website; Single Cask Whisky is whisky in its most authentic form; untouched, elemental, pure. No two single cask whiskies are the same, and they are intended to take on the unique flavour of their individual casks.
Distilleries produce and sell their own branded bottles of whisky, carefully crafted to maintain a consistent flavour profile. Large distilleries, capable of producing millions of litres annually, blend hundreds of single casks at a time to achieve this uniform taste and colour their consumers expect.
Independent whisky bottlers, however, do not distil their own spirit but instead, purchase their spirit from various distilleries and bottle them under their own label. These “own label” releases encourage innovation and diversity in the whisky marketplace, often providing a new character to the traditionally consistent distillery releases and so are very much appreciated and sought after by whisky enthusiasts.
So why do the distilleries sell their spirit to these Independent Bottling companies? Obviously, the bottling company needs to purchase spirit, or he has nothing to sell. But Distilleries themselves have a difficult task of trying to predict their cask requirements many years in advance and often produce slightly more than they think they will need. Subsequently, at various stocktaking updates, they may find they have a surplus of a particular age or type of cask or a batch of casks that does not meet their standard flavour profiles. Selling these surplus casks to an independent bottler allows the distillery to release space in their warehouses for new casks and also brings in some welcome cashflow. Subsequently, Independent Bottlers can purchase these surplus casks and work their magic to create unique and often superior bottlings. This relationship can also serve as a promotional tool for distilleries, especially lesser-known ones, as the bottler’s releases can attract attention and prestige.
For whisky enthusiasts, independent bottlings can offer a new experience to a distillery’s core range, providing whiskies that are significantly different, or changed, from the typical flavour and character expected from that distillery. The build-up of expectation and mystery from opening a single cask bottling is often a major factor in the enjoyment of a single cask whisky and as single cask releases are limited in quantity, this increases their appeal to collectors and aficionados who are eager to experience something unique and often unrepeatable.

Single cask whisky means the entire bottling comes from just one cask, unlike standard single malts which combine multiple casks. Because each cask matures differently due to the natural properties of wood, every single cask bottling offers a unique flavor profile that can never be exactly replicated.
We carefully select casks from established Scottish distilleries known for their quality and craft. Our releases feature exceptional single cask whiskies from renowned distilleries in regions like Speyside. Each cask is chosen based on its individual merit and distinctive character.
Speyside is Scotland’s largest whisky-producing region, known for producing elegant, complex whiskies often characterized by fruity, honey-sweet notes. Our Speyside selections showcase the region’s renowned quality and diversity through distilleries like Linkwood, Dailuaine, and Glen Elgin.
We believe whisky is made to be appreciated, consumed, and enjoyed rather than collected and left unopened. Our mission is to make exceptional single cask whiskies accessible to enthusiasts who want to experience unique expressions of Scotland’s finest distilleries.
